SOAP DISPENSING SPONGE HOLDER

The Soap Dispensing Sponge Holder is an innovative design that I developed during my time managing the cleaning category at OXO. Its design, which is unique to the sinkware market, allows users to apply soap to a sponge in a one-handed press - in addition to sponge drainage and soap storage. We were inspired to shift our focus to sponges after realizing that our soap dispensing product portfolio was heavily focused on brushes. Through close study of users, we identified a preference among many users for sponges, and worked to develop a product that utilized the convenience of soap dispensing with their preferred cleaning tool. See below for product features and video.

The ventilated sponge holder is elevated for quick drying, while the drip tray underneath catches excess water. The internal soap cap prevents water from mixing into the soap. The Holder comes apart for thorough cleaning.

DISH SQUEEGEE

The dish squeegee is a small but mighty tool that makes the job of cleaning food off of dishes before dishwashing easy. Though a seemingly simple tool, the over-molding on the silicone on the rigid central plastic presented unique manufacturing challenges that impacted the design. During over-molding step of early pilot production we realized the product was shifting within the mold, causing defects. We worked closely with the mechanical engineering team and factory partners to adjust the design without compromising the final consumer experience.

MICROFIBER FLOOR DUSTER WITH FRINGE

Through studying the market I identified an opportunity for a simpler and more affordable dry floor mop. In the course of initial cost projections, I realized there was an opportunity to leverage a discontinued product’s tool and repurpose it for this product. By utilizing the tooling we were able to save cost and development time on a new product which has proven to better meet the needs of OXO consumers.
